University Librarian Jim O'Donnell

Welcome from our University Librarian!

At the heart of any great university is a great library...

ASU Library's greatness consists of its ambition and commitment to deliver information resources, in any format, to faculty and students as swiftly and seamlessly as possible.

Work we're passionate about

At Arizona State University, we are building a new library for the 21st century – one that is as inspiring as it is welcoming, both an incubator of creativity and a monument to human complexity. As new technologies, disciplines and opportunities for discovery continue to emerge, the learning and research needs of ASU students and faculty demand a library that is both agile and robust, community-centered and service-minded, imaginative and engaged, and equipped to support a growing and dynamic New American University.

Future of Print

Exactly how libraries will be transformed by the digital age has yet to be answered – but it’s a question we're tackling with gusto through our Future of Print initiative, in partnership with MIT, which aims to develop new approaches to the sustainable and meaningful management of print collections in a landscape immersed in digital.

Makerservices

Active learning and creativity are the hallmarks of any makerspace and an integral part of the ASU Library mkrservices mission. Our 'mkrspace' is just one of a growing number of spaces across ASU offering access to 3-D printers, sewing machines, vinyl cutters, book scanning, and film and studio production space.

Distinctive Collections

Distinctive collections are what set libraries apart. Our distinctive collections embody the history of our state and represent the university’s deep roots in Arizona, such as the Chicano Research Collection, the largest repository in Arizona for Mexican-American history.

Work with us!
