Welcome from our University Librarian, Jim O'Donnell!
The library is your partner....
The Arizona State University Library aspires to connect our users to the best information resources for their needs, whatever those may be, in whatever format, as swiftly and seamlessly as possible.
Work we're passionate about
At Arizona State University, we are building a new library for the 21st century – one that is as inspiring as it is welcoming, both an incubator of creativity and a monument to human complexity. As new technologies, disciplines and opportunities for discovery continue to emerge, the learning and research needs of ASU students and faculty demand a library that is both agile and robust, community-centered and service-minded, imaginative and engaged, and equipped to support a growing and dynamic New American University.
Labriola National American Indian Data Center
The Labriola National American Indian Data Center is the library’s dedicated Indigenous library and community space. Located in Hayden Library on the Tempe campus and Fletcher Library on the West campus, Labriola holds a notable collection of research and open-stack materials by, for and about Native Americans. In addition, the Labriola Center develops engaging programming for Native American students and community, connects the library with Tribal communities and advances opportunities that prioritize Indigenous knowledge systems and protocols.
Established in 2017 with the support of Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Community-Driven Archives (CDA) is the lens which the ASU Library approaches archival practice and shares untold stories and history. By building strong relationships with historically marginalized communities (Latinx, Black, Asian and Pacific Islander, Indigenous, and LGBTQ), CDA creates intergenerational and intersectional safe spaces that reimagine archives and support lifelong learning. The unit encompasses the current Archives Department and includes the Chicano/a Research Collection, University Archives, Greater Arizona Collections, and Black Collections.
Data Science and Analytics
The field of data science is rapidly expanding and data science services are in higher demand as students and faculty increase their engagement in data science research. The Unit for Data Science and Analytics is a hub for research collaborations and student mentorship. From machine learning and data analytics to visual storytelling and network analysis, we offer a one-of-a-kind resource that connects students, faculty, and staff from all university-wide disciplines to grow their knowledge of data science.
