Welcome to ASU Library Maker Services!
Here, learning means doing, and so we offer a range of services and equipment in order to learn new skills, create new things, and advance both your personal and professional projects. All backgrounds and levels of experience are welcome!
We are open to everyone with a current ASU affiliation, from students, to staff, to faculty and other affiliates.
If you are a non-affiliate but are interested in learning more about the Maker Services, we are able to offer tours to non-affiliates.
Complete the required orientation
All visitors will need to enroll in the Maker Services Orientation Training course in Canvas, and complete our Basic Orientation Module before reserving Makerspace equipment or services.
Faculty who plan to bring a class or refer students should also complete the Faculty Orientation Module in addition to the Basic Orientation Module.
You can return to the course to complete additional service-specific modules as needed.
Make an appointment
After completing the required orientation, make an appointment to use Maker Services equipment or spaces. Choose the service, date and time that work best for you. You will receive an email when your appointment is approved. Some services may be unavailable due to special events, maintenance or staffing.
Explore our services
3D printing
Create custom objects, prototypes and replacement parts using our 3D printing services. Submit your own design file or choose a model online, then review our guidelines for file requirements and printing limitations.
Note: Weapons and weapon parts cannot be printed.
Audio Visual Studio
Our studio offers high-quality production value for your film, presentation, product demo, video blog or podcast. The studio includes HD cameras, audio mixing, lighting, green screen, microphones and more. We have memory cards and adapters to store your recording and video editing software available for use.
Tech Lending
Borrow technology for class projects, creative work and everyday needs. Tech Lending offers items such as headphones, chargers, cameras and gaming equipment.
You'll use your ASU ID in the Makerspace to borrow available equipment.
Fixer Studio
Created in partnership with the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, the Fixer Studio helps you repair, restore and reinvent instead of discard. Explore tools and resources for home improvement, electronics repair, crafting, textiles, 3D-printed projects and more to give your belongings new life.
Book scanning
The book scanner makes it easy to digitize paper books while helping protect their spines. Its cradle supports the book during scanning, and the high-resolution camera captures crisp images of text, illustrations and other page details.
Electronics
Use electronics tools to test, build and troubleshoot circuits for your next project. Available equipment includes soldering irons, power supplies, oscilloscopes and multimeters.
Sewing
Use our sewing machine to create prototypes, costumes, textile art and other fabric-based projects. The machine is beginner-friendly and available for makers with any level of sewing experience.
Vinyl cutting
Create stickers, decals, shirt designs and other custom vinyl projects. Whether you are building a brand, making gifts or experimenting with a new idea, the vinyl cutter can help bring your design to life.
Connect with us
We provide training, tools and space to the entire ASU community and welcome classes, groups and student clubs, in addition to individual makers. We are interested in growing the community by collaborating with local organizations, other maker and hacker spaces and local K-12 schools.
