Ask a Librarian Policy

  • "Ask a Librarian" provides e-mail-based reference service primarily for ASU students, faculty and staff, in support of teaching and research at Arizona State University.
  • Some questions may need to be referred to Subject Librarians for further assistance.
  • Questions from Arizona residents will be answered as time and resources permit.
  • Questions from persons who are not affiliated with ASU and who are not Arizona residents will be answered if inquiries are relevant to the ASU Library's services, special strengths and/or unique collections.
  • We encourage persons who do not fall into the categories above to refer to their local public or academic library for assistance.
  • Questions received through the "Ask a Librarian" service are normally answered within twenty-four hours.
  • Questions submitted during weekends and holidays may require a longer response time.
