Join Passport to ASU at Hayden Library on August 17

Explore everything the ASU Library has for you at the 2022 Passport to ASU! Connect with your ASU community, meet new friends and learn ways that you can get involved on campus and in community life while at ASU.

Hayden Library will serve as one of three locations (along with the Memorial Union and the Student Pavilion) for the event on Wednesday, August 17 from 4:00-9:00 p.m. 

Along with hundreds of organizations, the ASU Library will be tabling, offering giveaways and information about resources to help you succeed. Learn more about what we have planned below!

Level One activities

ASU Library
Start your Passport adventure at the ASU Library! Snag some swag and learn about all of the great things the library has to offer, including free culture passes to local museums, reserving study rooms, on-campus printing solutions, and so much more.

Greater Arizona Collection
Welcome to the Grand Canyon State! Did you know Arizona’s birthday is February 14, 1912 (oh, and Valentine’s Day)? Pick up some fun stickers to show your Arizona pride, as you discover historic photographs and materials from the Greater Arizona collection. 

Labriola National American Indian Data Center
Meet the Labriola National American Indian Data Center team, an Indigenous-led library center located at Hayden Library on the Tempe campus. Learn about special events, exhibits, archives and services for tribal members, then head up to Level 3 for more Labriola Center activities.

University Archives
Who is Sparky? Discover the story of ASU’s famous mascot as you explore interesting ASU history and trivia from 1895 to 2022. Browse through yearbooks and learn about iconic buildings such as Old Main and Gammage Auditorium. 

Level Two activities

Open Stacks
The vibes on the second floor can’t be beat. Browse Sun Devil Reads to find your next favorite book on the topic of well-being. Grab a button, a coloring sheet and a comfy seat in front of the west windows. The second level is the best place for people watching! Don’t forget to take a photo in the stacks while you’re there as well in our photobooth.

Level Three activities

Data Science
Want to be a Data Science wizard? From engineering to history, there is more to data than just numbers. Sign-up for data science workshops to learn how to use technology and coding to turn your data into a compelling story.  

Global Studies Librarians
Meet global studies librarians, your ASU Library resource for all International students. Sit back and enjoy films on the big screen, play a game of Mahjong, and try your skills at Chinese calligraphy.

Labriola National American Indian Data Center
Welcome to the Labriola Center, an Indigenous space within Hayden Library. Listen to a live lo-fi DJ set by Audrey Pekala (Tohono O'odham and Chicana), play “Cards For Decolonization” and sample some of the best Indigenous books in speculative fiction, sci-fi, horror and more. 

Don’t miss tables from the Office of American Indian Initiatives, Turning Point Magazine, Alliance of Indigenous Peoples, American Indian Studies, American Indian Graduate Student Association and ASU's Career and Professional Development Services.
