Are you an instructor? If so, please visit our Course Resource Services page to learn more about how you can use ASU Library Resource Organizer.
Accessing your materials
The majority of the content needed for your class will be available in Canvas within the ASU Library Resource Organizer. Watch this video for a brief introduction:
If your instructor is not using Canvas, you can use this link to search for the resource organizer for your course.
Physical materials for your class:
If your instructor has placed physical items on the Course Resource shelf, you can search for them through the One Search bar on the Library home page; click on the arrow and select “Course Reserves.” Provide the call numbers for each item you would like to borrow to the staff at the information desk and they will bring you the item.
Important things to know
Course Resource items can be checked out for periods between 2-4 hours, as determined by the instructor. When you check out a reserved item, the staff will tell you the due time and whether or not the item can leave the building. Items on the Course Resource Shelf cannot be renewed online, and must be returned to the same library desk where you checked them out. Please do not return them in a book drop or you may risk getting an overdue fine.
About fines:
- Course Resource fines accrue at a rate of one dollar per hour (24 hours/day)—up to a maximum of $20 per item.
- There is no grace period for Course Resource items.
- Fines begin immediately after the due time has passed.
About Textbooks
The ASU Library does not routinely purchase textbooks. However, at the request of an instructor, the ASU Library will purchase an electronic version of a textbook if it is available (keep in mind that not all publishers will license e-textbooks to libraries). Instructors may also place their own print copy of a textbook on hold at a specific library location for you to check out or view. If you need help searching the ASU Catalog to see if your textbook may be available, please Ask a Librarian.
