Located in the center of the fourth floor, this collection is a locus for scholarly activity. This wide-scoped, curated book collection is intended to advance academic research, especially in disciplines that rely on sources closely associated with the printed word. Works in the Scholars Enclave include multi-volume monographic sets in different languages, as well as serials, concordances, dictionaries, and similar resources that serve as primary research tools and are most useful in print formats, whether for their textual or visual qualities.
The area is furnished with generous desks to accommodate comfortable workspace for monumental sets such as Early English Text Society, Loeb Classical Library, Clay Sanskrit Library, Dumbarton Oaks Medieval Library, I Tatti Renaissance, Lexicon Iconographicum Mythologiae Classicae, Reallexikon der Germanischen Altertumskunde, Foreign Relations of the United States, Historia de España (Espasa-Calpe), American National Biography, United States Army in World War II, and Corpus Christianorum.
