1902:
- The first automobile, a Toledo Eight Horse, arrives in the Grand Canyon.
- Francois Matthes maps the Grand Canyon of the Colorado.
- Henry Peabody publishes his photographic essay: “Glimpses of the Grand Canyon of Arizona".
1903:
- The Fred Harvey Company hires Mary Colter as architect.
- Cameron’s Hotel & Camps opens, which is today a Bright Angel Lodge cabin. The Kolb Brothers open a photographic studio in a tent beside Cameron’s Hotel.
- Cameron imposes a one dollar toll on use of Bright Angel Trail.
- Cameron’s Indian Garden Camp opens.
