"Wheels within Wheels" includes a series of progressively complex exercises, step-by-step explanations on how to perform polyrhythmic cycles, raw material for improvisation, a method for using solkattu vocal syllables, patterns from pieces by Ligeti, Sorabji and others, dialogues on the nature of time and space, and three original open score compositions exploring the material in each chapter. It is used as the textbook for the Advanced Rhythm class at ASU, and it has been sold in 40 countries.

Bio

Jacob Adler is a composer, performer and teacher. He is a faculty associate at the ASU School of Music where he teaches rhythm technique, tuning systems and other topics in music theory.
