Monologues for Latino/a Actors

Subtitle
A Resource Guide to the Contemporary Latino/a Playwrights for Actors and Teachers

Edited by Micha Espinosa

The Latino population of the United States is on track to exceed 50 million within the next few years, and will nearly triple in size by the year 2050. As this wave of Latinos/as emerge, acting students, teachers, and coaches need resources to support this population and their stories. "Monologues for Latino/a Actors: A Resource Guide to Contemporary Latino/a Playwrights for Actors and Teachers" is a gateway into a cultural world that has been historically ignored by other resource guides. Featuring monologues from 25–30 playwrights, readers will be introduced to the wide variety of material available for Latino/a actors. Acting teachers will now have access to a larger spectrum of materials for their students. Each playwright’s work will be illuminated with biography and bibliography for those who are unfamiliar with their work.

Finally! We have gone far too long without an anthology like this for Latin@ actors! The organization of this text, the insight it provides, and the personal investment of each playwright introduced helps to transform this text into a fantastic resource while simultaneously demystifying the challenge of selecting a monologue from a collection instead of a play.
