Congratulations Class of 2021

Welcome to the Community-Driven Archives (CDA) Initiative blog! We wrap up the entries for the Spring 2021 semester with a farewell to our beloved student archivists Myra Khan, Elise Daniells, Denise Mosso Ruiz, and Kate Saunders. As many of you have seen since the relaunch of this blog in November 2019, each of these amazing student archivists have contributed so much to the CDA blog and we could not have done this blog without them. As we prepare to say adios to these amazing humans, we want to highlight a few of the posts each of them has contributed to this blog.

Myra Khan: Time Capsule Letters, Archives and Pop Culture, The role of oral traditions within marginalized societies and their validity within archives

Elise Daniells: Time Capsule Letters, Archives of American Slavery, Tutnese: The lost language of the enslaved

Denise Mosso Ruiz: Time Capsule Letters, Reflection of event “CDA Virtual Kids Camp”, Untold History: Filipino Movement and Cesar Chavez

Kate Saunders: Queer Trace

We could not have accomplished half the things we did at the CDA initiative without our current and former student archivists, and I will miss each and every one of you and I am so happy and proud to have gotten the opportunity to work with each of you. I know you are going to do amazing things in the future, and I cannot wait to see you shine. To close out the blog for the semester Myra, Elise, Denise, and Kate will be writing final reflections regarding their experience as student workers for the CDA initiative.

Look out for those posts in the coming weeks. After that, we will be taking a hiatus from the blog to regroup and finish out the work the CDA team has been working on since 2017 as our Mellon grant ends in July 2021. We have some exciting things planned for the future and we cannot wait to share them with you all. Contact me, Jessica Salow, with feedback at Jessica.Salow@asu.edu as I would love to hear from you your thoughts regarding the work we here at ASU are doing in community archiving around Arizona. We also want your feedback on what you would like to see from us in future blog posts. And if you would like regular updates from the CDA team please follow our CDA Facebook page or the CDA Instagram page to keep abreast of the virtual events we do monthly. We have some amazing events coming up in February 2021 so please check out our social media pages for more information. And please visit our website and our connect page for more information regarding the work we are doing around community-driven archives at ASU Library and with our community partners in Arizona.

See you soon!
