Categories
The competition for Best Artistic Map of the Grand Canyon recognizes achievement in cartographic representation through the innovative visual expression of geographic ideas, forms, and concepts. In particular, this category encourages experimental map-making practices not typically associated with navigational or data-driven cartographic forms. Outcomes will likely emphasize aesthetic and conceptual concerns and might be subjective and/or non-representational in form. Artistic maps may incorporate any form of physical and/or digital media; judging and public display of artistic maps will utilize the artist’s provided digital image of the finished work.

Top place winners in each category will win -- at a minimum -- a $100 Amazon gift card, a certificate of achievement, and cartographic bragging rights.
