Tech Lending

The Tech Lending program provides opportunities for ASU students, faculty and staff to engage with different media and equipment without having to invest in the technology themselves.

With the exception of some grab-and-go items noted below, you can check out items from the Makerspace on Level 3 of Hayden Library. Stop by with your Sun Card to start borrowing today!

What’s available

Below is a small list of the types of items available via Tech Lending. Talk with Makerspace staff to find out what specific items and models are available.

  • Grab-and-Go: Laptop chargers, phone chargers, calculators, headphones and more*
  • Cameras and equipment:  Canon Rebel T6 and T7 DSLR cameras, tripods, Go Pro Hero 7 and Go Pro 360
  • Virtual reality: Oculus Go, Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2
  • 3D printers: Creality Ender 3
  • Projectors, digital sound recorders, and more.

* Grab-and-go equipment is available to check out at the main information desk of each library location.

Loan periods

Most items in the Tech Lending program are able to be borrowed for seven days. Specific due dates and return procedures are confirmed upon check out.

Renewals are not available for any items at this time. This helps our items circulate and be more available. We recommend visiting our front desk or calling ahead to ensure the item you are looking for is in stock.

General guidelines

  • Most devices are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Only one of each item type may be borrowed at a time.
  • Library devices are intended for university-related use, in accordance with ASU’s computer use policy.
  • Borrowers are responsible for the care of library owned items while in their possession. Fines may be charged to repair or replace damaged equipment, and will be assessed once the item has been returned.
  • Please do not return items to any library book drop location. They must be returned in person to the Makerspace during operational hours.
  • If the Makerspace is closed, you may return borrowed items to the Hayden Information and Check Out desks on Level 1 or the Concourse Level. When returned to the Makerspace, the items will be tested and inspected for damage.
