Health for Life

"Health for Life" is a high school text to teach concepts and principles that promote health and wellness throughout life. The book contains 20 chapters in six units (understanding health and wellness, preventing disease and seeking care, embracing priority lifestyles, building relationships and lifelong health, avoiding destructive habits, and creating healthy and safe communities). The text leads students to master self-management skills such as assessment, goal setting, monitoring, time management, and personal portfolio creation. A supplemental chapter on reproductive and sexual health is available.

Bios

ASU doctoral graduate Karen E. McConnell is a professor at Pacific Lutheran University, a certified health education specialist (CHES) and an expert in health and fitness education, curriculum and assessment, and exercise science. She is a recipient of the Arthur Broten Young Scholar Award and the Professional of the Year Award from the Washington Alliance for HPER.

ASU Professor Emeritus Charles B. (Chuck) Corbin has more than 100 books and over 200 journal articles to his credit. He is an internationally recognized expert in physical activity, health and wellness, whose honors include induction into the SHAPE America Hall of Fame and the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition Lifetime Achievement Award.
