Concepts of Fitness and Wellness: A Comprehensive Lifestyle Approach (11th ed.)

Concepts of Fitness and Wellness (11th ed.) is a college text to teach concepts and self-management skills that promote good fitness, health and wellness throughout life.

This evidence-based program includes 25 concepts, or chapters, each containing worksheets designed to help students master self-management skills such as self-assessment, goal setting, self-monitoring, time management, self-planning and personal portfolio creation. Topics of focus include adoption of health-enhancing active lifestyles (FITT Formula regular physical activity) that include participating in activities from five steps of the Physical Activity Pyramid, eating well, managing stress, avoiding destructive habits (e.g., tobacco, alcohol, drug abuse, STIs) and practicing other healthy lifestyle habits that lead to a long and productive life and prevent chronic diseases. The book is based on the HELP philosophy (Health for Everyone for Lifetime in a very Personal way) and uses the Stairway to Fitness, Health and Wellness to show students how to move from dependence to independent problem solving and decision making. The book has been in print since 1968.
