Welcome! All of our libraries are open for the Spring 2022 semester.

In order to support the health and success of the entire ASU community, please note the following updates (which are subject to change). Get in touch with us for further information about how the library might best support you.

Visiting the library

As of March 11, 2022 physical access to university libraries is open to students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Non-ASU visitors are welcome to visit the ASU library. Reservations are required to utilize a variety of research spaces and collection centers

Face coverings are recommended

Starting March 14, 2022 face coverings are recommended but not required across campus. Signs will be placed inside buildings to note any areas where face coverings are still required, such as in health care settings. Face coverings will still be required on intercampus shuttles, per federal guidelines.

Devils' drop off locations

Devils’ drop-off is an on-campus COVID-19 saliva testing option open to all students, faculty and staff — as well as dependents of benefits-eligible ASU employees. Three ASU Library locations serve as Devil’s drop-off points:

  • Hayden Library on the Tempe campus: Located inside the ground level south entrance across from the Memorial Union.
  • Noble Library on the Tempe campus: located on the ground floor
  • Fletcher Library on the West campus: Located just inside the ground floor entrance.

Study rooms are open

Study rooms are available in many library locations and many of them are reservable online.

Luhrs Arizona Reading Room in Hayden Library on the Tempe campus is available for reservation for quiet, individual study. Please make your reservation online and check in at the first floor information desk upon arrival for access to the reading room.

Food and drink is okay

Food and drink are permitted in all library buildings, except where otherwise indicated (such as reading rooms, audio-visual studios, etc.).

Food services are available in a few of our libraries. Hayden Library on the Tempe campus offers Charlie’s Cafe (concourse); the Bodhi Market (level 1) and the self-service POD Market (concourse). Noble Library on the Tempe campus and Fletcher Library on the West campus each feature a Starbucks location on the first floor.

Library hours

All libraries will return to normal hours of operation for the Spring 2022 semester beginning Monday, Jan. 10.  Hayden Library will be open 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. Check library hours before your visit.

Reservation required for Makerspace

The Makerspace on the third floor of Hayden Library still requires an advanced reservation due to space capacity limits.

Reservation required for reading rooms and archival materials

The Wurzburger Reading Room in Hayden Library and the Design & the Arts Special Collections Reading Room will continue to operate by appointment. Need help accessing Distinctive Collections? Contact Ask an Archivist.

Visiting the Labriola National American Indian Data Center on the West and Tempe campuses are by appointment only.

Walk-ins welcome

Hayden Library's Data Science and Analytics Unit, Map and Geospatial Hub, and Labriola National American Indian Data Center second-floor space do not currently require a reservation before visiting. (However, it is recommended to reach out to Data Science in advance: datascience@asu.edu.)

Hours of operation for the Data Science Lab and the Map and Geospatial Hub are 10 a.m.–4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and hours of operation for the Labriola Center, on both the West and Tempe campuses, are 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
