It's upon us! The Fall 2017 semester has officially begun!

Your ASU Library Map and Geospatial Hub is pleased to offer a fresh lineup of workshops and events for the new semester.

We're particularly thrilled to be partnering with the grassroots community art group Cut + Paste Phoenix in mid-September for the first-ever map-themed instance of their monthly collage meet-up: Cut + Paste Phoenix: Map Night!

We're also happy to be again be hosting our friends from the School of Earth and Space Exploration's Mars Space Flight Facility as they conduct a couple live demonstrations and hands-on workshop sessions with JMARS, an open-source GIS platform that allows users to retrieve, visualize, and analyze remotely sensed satellite imagery data for multiple planetary bodies, including Mars, Earth, the Moon, and many others.

The new workshop and tour lineup is growing! Be sure to reserve your spot at these upcoming sessions!

Workshops

  • Accessing Digital Topo Maps for GIS
  • Accessing Geologic Map Data
  • Editing and Extracting Open Street Map (OSM) Data for GIS
  • Getting Started with JMARS + (soon-to-be-scheduled/finalized) Applications of JMARS
  • Intro to Open Source GIS (Using QGIS)
  • Intro to 3D Geo-Printing
  • Working with Digital Elevation Models (Using QGIS)

To top it off, we're actively finalizing the details for some additional events too, including our biggest annual event, GIS Day (Friday, November 17 -- save the date). Stay tuned!

And, you can always learn more about and register for our upcoming events on our Workshops and Events pages, or by contacting us directly.

Here's to an exciting Fall 2017 semester, Sun Devils!
