Arizona individuals and businesses now have additional access to specialized help with patent and trademark resources. Whether you are an inventor, entrepreneur or need to safeguard your brand, the Arizona State University community and members of the public can get support navigating a variety of resources from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
The ASU Library was recently designated a Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC). The PTRC is part of a nationwide network found in libraries across the country.
“The PTRC provides access to resources and support for Arizona individuals and businesses navigating the complex world of patents and trademarks,” said Eric Prosser, associate librarian and STEM division head. “Community members will also be able to request consultations with ASU librarians. We can meet remotely or in-person at one of our Phoenix metro area campus locations for assistance with navigating the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s website and understanding how they can protect their intellectual property.”
While PTRC representatives cannot provide legal advice, they can demonstrate how to use patent and trademark search tools, explain the application process, assist you in using the USPTO's directory of local patent attorneys and much more.
PTRC consultations are by appointment only. ASU Library representatives are available to meet online by Zoom or at library locations in the Phoenix metropolitan area including:
