Collection Maintenance - Hayden Library

The Collection Maintenance Unit at Hayden Library is responsible for ensuring that the print collections are shelved accurately and quickly. Collection Maintenance activities includes: daily sorting and re-shelving of books, retrieving hold requests, shelf-reading for call number accuracy, and shifting parts of the collection whenever and wherever space is needed.

Collection Maintenance also provides security for the library, ensuring that ASU’s policies are followed to preserve the safety of patrons, staff and collections, including verifying IDs during the overnight ASU-only hours and interacting with campus police as necessary.

The ASU Library’s High Density Collection is also part of Hayden’s Collection Maintenance Unit. Material is kept in a climate controlled facility with a temperature of 50⁰F and 30 percent humidity. Access to the High Density Collection is restricted and material may only be acquired through a request in ASU Library One Search or through the Request Materials Form for community borrowers.
