Order and Chaos 2020

Artworks by ASU student Natalie Mikszta

Using maps as a departure point, students in the Art on Paper course, Herberger Institute, School of Art, in collaboration with the ASU Library, are excited to share a virtual exhibition of works on paper as their response to the order and chaos, challenges and personal experiences, that have shaped the year 2020. Order and Chaos 2020 marks the seventh iteration of the annual Creative Cartography art exhibition. In September Karina Wilhelm, former ASU Library Map and Geospatial Hub staff member, gave a presentation to Prof Ellen Meissinger’s Art on Paper class focused on the intersection of art and maps. Then using withdrawn maps from the Map and Geospatial Hub, the students each created two pieces, one representing Order and another representing Chaos. Artwork from this and previous years can be viewed on the Creative Cartography library guide.
