This is an ideal position for a diverse, dynamic, collaborative and entrepreneurial team player who is dedicated to leading and shaping the future of instructional support and research endeavors in the ASU Library and its communities. S/He would lead a team of embedded librarians working closely with colleges and student success initiatives where the Library can have the greatest impact.
This senior position will report to the Associate University Librarian for Public Services and will be responsible for a team of librarians developing partnerships in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts and work across all ASU campuses. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences fosters educational excellence and interdisciplinary inquiry though our unique blend of programs in the humanities, natural sciences and social sciences. The College of Integrative Sciences and Arts offer majors and solid foundation courses across the sciences and math, the humanities, and the social sciences.
The successful candidate has an excellent understanding of scholarly information across multiple disciplinary fields, and connects researchers and learners with all information resources both within and beyond the physical library. The individual works successfully with campus partners across departments and institutes, and seeks to build strong multidisciplinary relationships with faculty in these programs, in order to further both research and student learning. The successful candidate is committed to students’ academic success at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Master’s degree from an ALA accredited program
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in the social sciences
- At least 6 year’s professional experience in an academic library
- Supervisory experience
- Record of scholarly publications and/or presentations.
- Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to work creatively and effectively both independently and as a team member
- Demonstrated understanding of the research process and data lifecycle in sciences and social sciences
- Demonstrated ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with all faculty, students, library staff
- Experience in leading and identifying opportunities to implement and support emerging literacy instruction with campus curricular priorities to design and develop collaborative courses, modules, and research that support curriculum design.
- Experience in providing reference consultations and instructional services
- Grant writing experience
- Experience with sponsored research
Salary and Rank: This is a continuing appointment track academic professional position Associate/Librarian Rank and salary dependent upon experience.
