EBSCO’s LGBTQ+ Source is a comprehensive research database about LGBTQ+ issues and histories for all students and faculty. It features a broad collection of scholarly and popular publications in various formats, such as books, magazines and newspapers.

Here are five things to know about LGBTQ+ Source and how it can help you with your research:

  1. Access transdisciplinary information about LGBTQ+ academic research to educational materials and health resources. Learn about diverse cultural aspects of the LGBTQ+ community, including different global perspectives and cultural practices. Or find data on legal rights, policies and advocacy related to LGBTQ+ issues, including marriage equality, anti-discrimination laws, and healthcare rights.

  2. LGBTQ+ Source includes a specialized thesaurus containing thousands of relevant scholarly terms. This notable feature will help you discover research that is targeted and specific, and inform you of outdated or biased terms.

  3. Gain an understanding of LGBTQ+ matters, including their history, culture, and issues. Educational resources can be crucial in bridging informational gaps and correcting misunderstandings. The accessibility of these resources can foster a feeling of connectedness and acceptance for LGBTQ+ students and staff, and help to ease experiences of isolation.

  4. LGBTQ+ Source serves as a dedicated portal for LGBTQ+ topics. Despite the significance and richness of LGBTQ+ studies, there can be a shortage of extensive academic resources and opportunities for research. LGBTQ+ issues are intersectional, and this resource fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and the ability to follow research trends.

  5. Explore a collection of approximately 200 videos, delivering personal narratives and experiences from individuals within the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community.
