Have a paper to write but don’t know where to start? Try Library One Search! Using one simple search box, you can look for most library resources including millions of books, journals, full text articles, sound recordings, videos and maps – all owned by the ASU Libraries.

In this Library Minute, Anali introduces how Library One Search enables you to search for topics spanning multiple disciplines, instead of hunting through specific research databases. This gives you more time to work on your assignment!

Use the Library One Search from the libraries home page or wherever you go. It is part of the mobile library siteMy ASU, Library Subject and Course Guides, and the ASU Libraries Toolbar.

This week Anali talks about RefWorks, a bibliographic citation manager which allows you to create a personal database of the references you use for your research. Refworks allows you to import and organize citations from research databases, the libraries catalog and Google Scholar all in one place.

Refworks also works with Write-N-Cite to help you include your citations as you are writing papers in Microsoft Word.

‘s University Technology Officer Adrian Sannier talks to the University Libraries about IT’s new Technology Strategy, the four core elements of the strategy, and the University Libraries central role in the strategy.

In part one of our three part series, Sannier describes how the current, “near follower” technology strategy needs to be challenged. The university, as a vertically integrated industry, needs to let go of technologies it helped to create, and look outside the university to form strategic alliances. He then describes the four core businesses in the technology strategy:

(1) Academic or Learning Technology: university needs to lead the way;

(2) Research Technology: new infrastructure of large data sets;

(3) Fifth campus: online campus, one university many places; and

(4) the Library: digital presence. Stay tuned for our next podcast where Dr. Sannier discusses: Content Management Systems, e-Books, For Profit Publishing, e-Publishing, and Paperless University.
