Welcome to the start of a brand new semester! In this week’s Library Minute, Anali Perry shares the ASU Libraries’ top three resources that will get you jump started to a successful semester. Our web site (lib.asu.edu) provides not only a host of online research resources, but also has important information about our libraries’ locations (including hours!); we have lots of study spaces for both individual and group work; and Ask a Librarian (lib.asu.edu/help) is here to provide you with research help and to answer questions about the libraries whenever you need it.
Check out the new ASU Libraries Toolbar! This toolbar works with the Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari web browsers, and puts the valuable online resources of the ASU Libraries in a handy location at the top of your browser window.
The toolbar’s integrated search box has options to search Google, the ASU Libraries online catalog, our Libguides (subject research guides), Google Scholar, Electronic Journal titles and Worldcat. The “Research Tools” provides quick links to valuable tools such as RefWorks, LibGuides, Interlibrary Loan, and your library account. In addition there’s a handy button to contact our helpful “Ask a Librarian” service.
To install, visit this page … and click on “Download Toolbar“. It’s just that quick and easy!

In this week’s Library Minute Anali Perry introduces ASU’s Ask a Librarian service. Ask a Librarian provides options to get you quickly in touch with our knowledgeable and experienced reference librarians. These librarians are here to help you succeed in your scholarship and research at ASU. You’ve got four ways to Ask a Librarian: Chat, email, phone, and in person.
This week Anali talks about RefWorks, a bibliographic citation manager which allows you to create a personal database of the references you use for your research. Refworks allows you to import and organize citations from research databases, the libraries catalog and Google Scholar all in one place.
Refworks also works with Write-N-Cite to help you include your citations as you are writing papers in Microsoft Word.
