ASU’s West campus a Point of Pride

In early 2008, ASU’s West campus was selected as a “Point of Pride” by the Phoenix Pride Commission. The honor, which is awarded every four years, recognizes a landmark or attraction unique to and located within the city that evokes a sense of pride among area residents. Join West campus leaders, staff and alumni in a discussion about what truly makes the West campus a point of pride.

In honor of this milestone, host Tammy Allgood and director Marilyn Myers sit down for a conversation including the role of Fletcher Library as the foundation of the newly developed West campus, the challenges of creating an academic library with complete services and collections from the ground up, how Fletcher has transformed over the years, and the need to develop new strategies for expanding library services to meet the needs of a rapidly growing campus population.

Scott Muir and the Library at the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus

In this episode, Scott Muir, Director of the Downtown Phoenix campus Library, joins Mimmo Bonanni to talk about the opening of the new Downtown campus library that greeted over 27,000 visitors in their first semester alone. Scott tells how the Downtown campus came into being and what it was like starting a library from scratch and opening on time. He also talks about the library’s partnership with Information Technology and what it is like working in an urban center.

Scott Muir and the Downtown campus Library Podcast

Arizona State University opened the Downtown campus on August 21st, 2006 in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona. The library is a part of the Information Commons, an innovative center combining library and information technology services. The IC supports students academic needs through a one-stop Customer Assistance Center where students can access research materials, library books, and the IT help desk.
