The ASU Libraries site will be undergoing maintenance Thursday, January 13, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
Users will not be able to access the Library Catalog, My Account, and some Electronic Resources. We apologize for the inconvenience.

On August 11, 2009 the ASU Libraries hosted a special event in the Luhrs Reading Room to celebrate the US Postal Service issuance of a Steve Allen commemorative postage stamp.

Steve Allen, the original host of “The Tonight Show,” is on one of the 20 Early TV Memories collection commemorative stamps. Allen started his broadcasting career in Phoenix and has donated memorabilia from his life to ASU. The Phoenix Postmaster donated a 30×38 replica of the stamp to ASU to accompany Allen’s archival collection that is preserved by our Special Collections. University Librarian Sherrie Schmidt received the stamp replica on behalf of the ASU Libraries.

ASU West campus Dean of Student Affairs Kevin Cook and Student Government President Ryan Caracciolo highlight all the exciting homecoming events at the ASU West campus for Fall 2008.

The ASU West campus is participating in Homecoming as part of the campus’s role as a vital part of one university in many places by hosting a variety of events enabling members of the West campus community to get together, have fun, and show their Sun Devil spirit. This year’s celebration is special because it marks the 50th anniversary of ASU achieving university status.

The events build momentum and enthusiasm for the big university-wide celebration on Saturday, November 15, including the football game against Washington State.

Students returning to the Polytechnic campus this semester will find almost nothing is as they left it. Luckily, staff from the Polytechnic campus Library will be spending the first two days of the semester helping students navigate their way through the immense new buildings that opened this summer. Library representatives, armed with maps and free water, will be staffing two tables in an attempt to help students navigate their way through Polytechnic’s new 250,000 square-foot office/classroom complex.“Other than the library and the union, almost nothing is in the same place as it was before,” said Mike Wirtz, Library Supervisor at the Polytechnic campus. “Classrooms have moved, faculty offices have moved, entire departments have moved, even the sidewalks have moved – I think there are going to be a lot of confused students on the first day. We’ll try to make it a little less confusing.”

Last year, the Polytechnic library’s help tables assisted more than 500 students with finding their way around the construction. Wirtz anticipates they will help more this semester.

“Everyone is saying that this semester will mark the ‘rebirth’ of the Polytechnic campus,” Wirtz said. “It’s a pretty exciting time out here.”
