Library Express
Library Express items will only be delivered to Tempe campus departments on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the Fall 2009 Semester. This will not affect article delivery.
What is Library Express?
- Library Express provides free on campus delivery of books to all Tempe Campus Faculty and Academic Professionals.
- Library Express provides free article delivery online to Tempe Campus Faculty and Academic Professionals through the ILLiad request form.
What is the difference between Library Express, Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loan?
- Library Express handles the scanning of Tempe material for Tempe Campus Faculty and Academic Professionals and delivers ASU books to their department offices.
- Document Delivery handles the scanning of materials that are located on a campus other than the person’s program affiliated campus.
- Downtown affiliated patrons can get articles and books from Polytechnic, Remote Storage, Tempe and West.
- Polytechnic affiliated patrons can get articles and books from Downtown, Remote Storage, Tempe, and West.
- Tempe affiliated patrons can get articles and books from Downtown, Polytechnic, Remote Storage, and West.
- West affiliated patrons can get articles and books from Downtown, Polytechnic, Remote Storage and Tempe.
- Interlibrary Loan handles the retrieval of articles and books from libraries outside of the ASU system.
What if I am a Tempe Campus Staff or Student?
- Articles and books can be provided to Tempe Campus Staff and Students when the person calls the Library Express department at 480-965-3282 and opens a money account with Library Express.
- Tempe Campus Staff members and Graduate Students can set up an account with Library Express to have books delivered to their on-campus department office for a fee.
- Tempe Campus Staff and Students can set up an account with Library Express to have articles delivered to their ILLiad accounts for a fee.

If I Have To Pay, How Do I Set Up An Account?
You may visit our service desk in Hayden Library or call our office at 480-965-3282 and set up an account using a credit card. Please set up an account prior to submitting requests.
The fees are as follows:
- Articles cost $3.00 per article pulled and scanned.
- Books cost $1.00 per book pulled and delivered.
- Accounts must be opened with a minimum of $5.00
- We do not provide refunds.
- Money cannot be collected at the time of delivery.
Getting Books from the ASU Campuses:
You may place your own online request for books from any of the ASU Campus Libraries (i.e. Tempe, West, Polytechnic, Downtown, or the Remote Storage Building).
To request books owned by ASU Libraries:
- Log in to your account using your ASURite ID. Your login will hold for the entire session.
- Click the
button. - Search for the item/s you want.
- Click on the entry you wish to request.
- Find and display the complete record for the title.
- Click the
button. - Choose a pick up location of Lib Express – Tempe Faculty, and click the
button. - The books you request will be checked out to your library account and delivered to you by Library Express.
Getting Articles from the Tempe Campus:
For photocopy requests of articles located on the Tempe Campus use the ILLiad request form.
Where Can I Get My Materials Delivered?
Materials will only be delivered to the requestor's Tempe Campus Departmental Office. We will not deliver materials to individual offices or dormitories.
How Long Does it Take?
Average turnaround time is 2-3 working days. Library Express is open Monday through Friday, exempting University observed holidays.
Services Library Express does not Provide:
- Articles that are available online through ASU electronic journal and database holdings.
- Delivery videos and DVDs. Due to their short check out period and the uncertainty of delivery schedules, these items must be picked up at the Circulation Desk. Faculty can ensure availability of the items they need by requesting their items through Media Booking.
Library Express reserves the right to return requests that do not comply with copyright laws of the United States (read below). Using this email form implies that your request is in copyright compliance AND that you acknowledge that you must pay for the service if you are not an ASU Faculty member.
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
